Feilding Medical FIFHC

The Feilding Integrated Family Health Centre (FIFHC) amalgamated the town's nine local doctors into one facility. This was a massive undertaking in the 10 month construction programme. The new facility required major demolition works, a full strip out and re-build to the existing building footprint with only the floor, roof, and exterior wall structure remaining. A number of extensions to the existing building included a 1000m² central block extension and a total build area of 2500m².

The multimillion dollar project also houses radiology, laboratory, midwifery services, and a Pharmacy. Colspec is proud to have be the Main Contractor for such an important project that is vital in servicing the needs of the entire Feilding Community.

Colspec was selected through a non-price, design and build selection process. This involved initial site selection and design collaboration with our design team, the Manawatu Community Trust, and the newly formed Doctors group as the end users. Once the design was finalised a tender process driven by initial budgets allowed fund raising to commence. Over a period of approximately 5 years the targets were reached and construction could begin.

The structure is in most part timber construction to align with the existing buildings. Some of the annex extensions comprised of structural steel portal frame, again with timber infill framing. New building services typical of a medical facility were integrated in to the new and existing structures. A newly expanded car park and secure parking area were also constructed.

This project was delivered within budget and on time to a high level of finish. The client and end users have expressed total satisfaction with the unique process to bring this Community project to fruition. Colspec has since been engaged by both parties to undertake further works.
